[fusion_text]How many of you have hired a “Personal Coach” before?  I don’t mean a sports coach, but someone with whom you can share the trials and tribulations of the ever-elusive balance between your work and home life and the impact it has on you.

Why do I ask?

Over the years, I have had many, many serious, in-depth conversations with men about life at work, life at home, juggling the two.   From interpersonal relationships at work, to career development, to financial challenges, to working through issues on the home front, I have always created a safe place for these amazing men to talk it through and come to a conclusion that supports what they ultimately want to achieve.

Some of my best conversations have been with men who are 10-15 younger than I am and it was so refreshing to have them be open and willing enough to share the struggles they were experiencing.  They really do represent a new generation!

In one instance, a young man I hired was feeling stuck navigating the current corporate world we lived in.  He had his own business on the side and was trying to sort out which path would be most fulfilling, challenging and rewarding.  After a few long conversations about life and what it means to really live it in alignment with our own core values, he chose to leave the company and follow his entrepreneurial spirit.  He thanked me with the most beautiful bouquet of flowers the day he submitted his resignation to the company.  Taking the time and opportunity to really look inside and determine what was missing and what he was seeking empowered him to make the best decision for him.  I am delighted to report that he is thriving in his own business!

Office politics can hit multiple nerves and challenge our values to the core.  During such times, I have engaged in conversations with many men and women who chose to use them as opportunities to voice their concerns in a safe place and be supported to staying true to what mattered most while navigating the murky waters that had been created.

There is no sexual preference to struggles with personal vision, values, goals and direction.  Or confidence, guilt, shame and embarrassment for that matter.  Similarly, there is no gender bias around workplace issues or challenges at home.

Every single person deserves to be heard and understood no matter where they are.

That “we” expect men to have it all together all the time is not only unfair, but unreasonable.  Over the past 4 weeks I have had (mostly) men remind me of this to the point where I want to put this out there. Here are a couple of examples:

“Why is it you focus on only women?  We have some of the same issues, you know.”

On the topic of women feeling like they need to “man up” to be successful in corporate … “I have to do things I’m uncomfortable with too if I want to get ahead.  Who can help me with that?”

“We don’t all want to work 60 hour weeks either, but if we don’t we won’t be respected and will never reach the levels we want”

“I want to work hard when I’m at work and give everything I’ve got to my wife and kids when I’m at home.”

“Sometimes I wish I worked at a gas bar so I could leave my work at work when I go home”

I am here to hold a space for men AND women in my 1:1 Coaching practice.  I support you to become clear about what you really want in life and then create strategies that are aligned with you … not everybody else.

I help YOU learn to live life without feelings of guilt and pressure.

I support and empower YOU to embrace and be your best self at work, at home and at play.

I help YOU “let go” of the control IN your life and “take back” control OF your life.[/fusion_text][tagline_box backgroundcolor=”” shadow=”yes” shadowopacity=”0.7″ border=”1px” bordercolor=”#aa0101″ highlightposition=”top” content_alignment=”center” link=”” linktarget=”_self” modal=”” button_size=”” button_shape=”” button_type=”” buttoncolor=”” button=”” title=”Over to YOU!” description=”” margin_top=”” margin_bottom=”” animation_type=”0″ animation_direction=”down” animation_speed=”0.1″ class=”” id=””]
