FAQs

What happens on our virtual coffee date?

This is our first opportunity to get to know each other a little bit. It’s essential to be sure we have a connection before committing to a working relationship. I’d love for you to share with me a little bit about who you are – what you do, what you love, what you don’t love. I want to learn about what you’re currently struggling with and may even have a couple of quick strategies for you to use right away.

It’s extremely important that you have a chance to ask me any questions because trust is as critical as the connection in a Coach/Client relationship. Based on this call, we’ll both determine whether or not we’re a good fit.  If it’s a hell yes! on both sides, we’ll talk about our next steps and set up a program that best meets your needs.

I should be able to get my life together on my own…right?

Asking for help requires us to be honest with ourselves (and that can feel uncomfortable).  We have to be able to admit that we haven’t got everything figured out. That we can’t “do it all”.  That can feel scary because as women so many of us were raised to be everything to everyone.

I spent so long living my life according to the agendas of other people I had no idea what I truly wanted to be doing.  I worried that the only thing I could do is what I’d always done. And, as someone who was used to being the go-to person, I was ashamed that I needed help to figure things out.

That’s when I hired my first coach and it was so refreshing to talk to someone that knew nothing about me, so all they could see were possibilities… for me.

I was introduced to “planned” moments of quiet contemplation where I could let my thoughts wander and simply breathe (that was totally new to me). I was offered the time and ability to consider what I – not anyone else – wanted for me and from me and it changed everything.  I believe you too have the power to make changes that enable you to live the inspired life you’re seeking. And I believe you don’t have to do it alone.

Allow me to be your compassionate guide on the path back to yourself.

What if I need support between calls?

Typically, our calls will occur weekly (4x/month).  However, you’ll also have unlimited email support during our time together.  If there’s an urgent need between calls that’s better-resolved voice-to-voice, we can set up a short check-in call as needed.

What if I need to reschedule a call?

Life happens and I get that. Should you need to reschedule our call I’d appreciate as much notice as possible to arrange a new time that works for both of us. When we set up our initial call schedule, we’ll take into account work schedules, vacations or business trips etc that you know of up-front and build those accommodations in right away.

What if it doesn’t work and you can’t fix me?

Great question!  First, I want you to know that YOU ARE NOT BROKEN.  And you don’t need to be “fixed”. As Rumi says, “the wound is the place where the light enters you”.  Our work is about your personal growth and transformation.  It’s about developing an understanding and appreciation of who you are (who you’ve always been and maybe forgotten along the way) and reconnecting with what gives your life purpose and meaning. It’s about creating more clarity, more peace and more joy in your life.  The work is yours to do. I’m here to guide the process with love and compassion.

Will there be homework?

Yes!  But it won’t be like school – I promise.  We’ll agree on your homework assignment at the end of each call.

You may have a new daily habit to install so you can create new patterns of behaviour. There will be exercises that require you to look within and see what comes up (without outside influences). You’ll be challenged to meet whatever comes up with grace and humility. You’ll be challenged to honour the journey you’ve taken to this point and see how it can best serve you going forward.  For those who’ve experienced trauma in their lives, this will become an important aspect of the healing process.

You’ll reconnect to your dreams and desires, identify your feelings and fears and begin to resolve residual feelings (guilt or shame) that may be holding you back.

My goal is always to help you explore and clarify what you want to achieve … is it more freedom, fulfillment, and fun in your life? A sense of belonging? The courage to use your voice?

Homework assignments encourage you to be accountable to “your plan”. I’ll be your guide as you develop that plan.  I’ll be there to support you when the going gets tough and celebrate with you each win along the way.

More questions?  Go ahead and book a virtual coffee date with me and we’ll sort it out.  I’d love to meet you!
